Finding smart local solutions

________________________________________________________________________

Podcar City believes in a community that is inclusive and profitable for all in the context of mobility . It is important that everything in PCC programs and projects are in sync with the needs of local and regional stakeholders. We reach out to all cities and other types of communities that have expressed an interest in evaluating new ideas for mobility. The PCC organization are partnering with any community that are seriously exploring smart ideas and wants to use students and other resources from PCC.

Three important parts of our collaboration:

  • We setup teams and initiate SFFM projects with participating communities
  • We lead and manage regular joint meetings with our own resources
  • We support communities with both funding and human resources

We also join forces at meetings, invite representatives from the industry and see how PCC can support their work and agenda, find commercial opportunities and possible intellectual property.

SAMPLES OF COMMUNITIES USING AND PLANNING ATN SYSTEMS

Morgantown West Virginia is the oldest and most successful of all ATN systems in the world. The system, supported by President Nixon, connects the downtown to a football stadium and a University Hospital and has recently been upgraded. In early year 2000 Mayor Ronald Justice said, “We’re a small town with big traffic issues, and the PRT could be the reason we’re able to continue our growth.” The system has one of the lowest cost of operation in the USA and is very popular.

Ultra Prt Heathrow has been running at the London Airport since 2011 and is today an integral part of the mobility solution. The company behind the ATN system is today in planning stages at several other locations in the world, most recently in India.

Guadalajara is one of the 2026 hosts of he World Football cup and will host four matches. The AutoTrain from Modutram will be a critical part of the mobility solution for people moving to and from the events.

San Jose has been planning and discussing ATN technology for over a decade, to some extent in conjunction with the Podcar City events. From March 27 2025 the Glydways company were given the green light to go ahead with the next phase.

Suncheon

The Swedish Vectus system is today an integral part of the Suncheon Flower exhibition with an interesting rail based technology. The system EcoCube has been operational for around 10 years and has been a success.

For the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, the City of Nancy was selected to find a solution for the Paralympics events. The Urban loop is now implemented and is expected to be an integral part of the city with ongoing extensions.

AACIDS – The community development branch of Atlanta Airport – has recently started an implementation of the Glydways technology at the airport. The system is a pilot implementation and is expected to be operational at the end of 2026.

The samples above are just a few of the communities, cities and airports that are actively planning ATN systems in the world. In 2025 we have found well over 100 communities that are actively looking into solutions that are financially feasible and able to mitigate the negative impact of personal vehicles. We expect many of those to be done in the coming decade.

We are actively following the developments and Magnus Hunhammar and Peter Muller from PCC are closely monitoring world ATN events.
