Koorosh Olyai is a Senior Principal with Stantec with over 35 years of public and private sector experience in planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and management of highway and public transportation facilities including HOV, Managed Lanes, and ITS Systems. Currently, he is on the Program Management Team for the GoMentum Station for the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, the largest testbed for CV and AV in the US.
Prior to Stantec, he was DART’s Assistant Vice President for Planning & Development, where he was responsible for multimodal system planning where he implemented, operated, maintained and managed Dallas area’s 84 miles of HOV and Managed Lanes. He has served as the Principal Investigator for federally funded ITS Operational Test projects and last led the development and launch of the federally funded US 75 Integrated Corridor Management that includes Texas’s first 511 System in 2013.
He has served as City Transportation Engineer for the City of Denton, and Traffic Engineer for the City of Plano, Texas.
Koorosh is Chair of the US TAG and Head of US Delegation to International Standards Organization Technical Committee 204 (ISO TC 204) for ITS, and Convener of Working Group 8 for Public Transportation and Emergency Services.
Graduate of University of Minnesota in Civil Engineering, he is a Licensed Professional Engineer and serves on the Advisory Boards of the University of Texas in Arlington and Texas Southern University. He has been recognized by FHWA, TRB, ITS Texas, and is the recipient of 2013 ITS Texas Annual Award for the US 75 ICM Program.
